How We Can Help

Research and Knowledge House

At Wood's Homes, we strive towards comprehensive treatment excellence

Wood's Homes Research Department assists the agency's programs and services:

  • to keep track of the work they are doing
  • to determine what treatment interventions with youth, families and communities are having some success
  • to collect and made good use of feedback from customers and stakeholders
  • to discover promising practices being developed by other youth-oriented services in Canada and around the world
  • to communicate successes by helping with presentations and with the preparation of articles for publication

We also assist with tracking agency-wide issues of concern that may arise, such as clients' self-harming behaviour, staff turnover, and program peer ratings.

Wood's clinical programs have developed detailed descriptive frameworks for delivering service with the help of the Research Department, and we review these frameworks on an annual basis. The program frameworks describe the treatment program, outline goals, objectives, and choose ways of measuring accomplishments. They lay the groundwork for the development of useful performance indicators and help keep programs on track for collecting the information needed to sort out what is working as we strive towards comprehensive treatment excellence. The development of our clinical models is the focus of 2006-2007.
