Counsellor: Crisis Counsellor I
Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Wood's Homes Community Resource Team, a Crisis Counselor I is educated at an undergraduate level. He/she demonstrates proficiency in the assessment and development of treatment plans related to individuals and families experiencing a crisis. He/she represents Wood's Homes to community professionals, the public, and to individuals and families. Duties and responsibilities are performed autonomously and include immediate telephone response and timely mobile visits in the home and/or community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs duties and responsibilities with the support of a Crisis Counselor II.
- Ensures that all persons calling for crisis assistance receive prompt, professional and effective services.
- Provides emergency face-to-face meetings in the home, community or at a Family Resource Centre.
- When required, facilitates the admission of young people from the community to the Stabilization Program following accepted procedure.
- Supports other Wood's programs by offering crises support.
- Represents Wood's Homes to families, young people and community professionals.
- Ensures that community professionals collaterally involved with a case are kept up to date about developments and are included in case planning.
- Ensures that up to date information about community resources is available to families and young people.
- Reviews difficult cases through a consultation process with the Manager and others designated consultants or in an emergency consults with the on call person.
- Ensures that information concerning services provided is accurately logged and tabulated.
- The Crisis Counselor I assist with the collecting of data to demonstrate program use and identify areas of community need.
- Is responsible for the overall maintenance of the workspace.
- Participates actively in a supervisory relationship with Program Management.
- Attends the meetings and professional development opportunities and training/workshops.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
An Undergraduate degree in the Social Sciences. Two to three year's residential/community child and youth care experience and/or crisis work experience is required. Must have own transportation. Personal suitability
