Location: Fort Smith, NWT, Provision of Therapeutic Treatment Programs for Children and Youth Department of Health and Social Services Government of the Northwest Territories.

The Program will offer mental health residential treatment to 9 young people ages 12 to 18, both boys and girls, with serious difficulties as a result of abuse, neglect, trauma and developmental struggles. There will also be 2 beds within a community-based specialized home. The program will be a service for any youth and family in a NWT community.

The Trail Cross Treatment Centre under Wood's Homes will operate nine beds with two additional community-based specialized support beds available seven days a week, twenty-four hours per day, 365 days per year.

Program Description: The Program will offer mental health treatment to 9 young people ages 12 to 18, both boys and girls, with serious difficulties as a result of abuse, neglect, trauma and developmental struggles. Youth may stay for a brief period of time for stabilization (three to five days) or as long as nine months, as treatment needs determine. There will also be provision for community-based family care for two additional young people. Treatment will be provided by an interdisciplinary team made up of staff with skills in all areas of child development that works collaboratively with Children's Services personnel. Wood's Homes is committed to providing treatment that follows best practices for youth with concurrent and complex issues, and parallels a cultural component based on traditional teachings and delivered by First Nation staff.
