Wood's Homes Lethbridge
Crisis Stabilization - Lethbridge
The two-bed Stabilization Program offers short term crisis diffusion services within two community caregiver settings. The program provides a temporary placement (an average of five to fifteen days) for children or adolescents who are either acting out their distress on others or on themselves (e.g. aggression, running, self-harm, suicidal thoughts).
The program offers a brief time out period as a first step towards stabilizing the crisis situation. Staff works with both the young person and the family to create more productive ways of interacting and managing conflicts when the youth returns home. As part of this process, stabilization helps families to develop additional skills and carry out new strategies. The program also provides information about appropriate community services and supports families to make use of them.
