Wood's Homes, An Agency of Promise
Wood's Homes serves young people and their families through a range of programs tailored to suit their treatment needs. Many of these programs have significant waiting lists and every effort is made to facilitate interim treatment measures and develop new funding sources to accomodate more clients. Wood's also strives for new opportunities to enrich the lives of children and prepare them for a promising future.
Wood's Homes is proud to participate in the Alberta Promise and has made a specific commitment to children's futures. Launched in January 2004, the New Opportunities for Work Experience Program will prepare young people, who are challenged by traditional teaching and learning experiences, for successful employment and personal self sufficiency. Up to 150 young people will access a new career centre where they will receive job search, resume writing, and interviewing training. Participants will also have access to paid employment possibilities where they will receive work experience with supporting mentorship. Wood's Homes is committed to this new program for an initial two years in partnership with the Calgary Board of Education. We anticipate that excellent outcomes will support new funding opportunities allowing continued operation long into the future.
Individuals and businesses can assist Wood's Homes with our commitment to children. In addition to continued financial support, we are in need of volunteer mentors from the business and trades community to assist with hands on work placement training, mentorship, and job skills.
