How You Can Help

Designated Funds

Field of interest and designated funds allow donors to offer their personal support at a level and in a manner that is personally rewarding for them and consistent with Wood's Homes long term objectives. Donors may contribute to existing funds or establish a fund that will address issues of particular personal importance.

Field of Interest Funds

Education Enhancement Fund
The Education Enhancement Fund will provide annual grant(s) to support young people currently participating in Wood's Educational programs with extraordinary educational opportunities.

Career/Vocational Advancement Fund (Established Dec 2003)
The career/Vocational Advancement Fund provides annual grant(s) to support young people preparing for employment and productive independent living.

Sports/Recreation Fund (Established Dec 2003)
The Sports/Recreation Fund provides annual grant(s) to support the development of young people through individual or team recreational activities.

Arts/Music Fund
The Arts/Music Fund will provide annual grant(s) to support non deliberative therapies for young people. This fund will create new opportunities for young people through music, art, drama, or dance.

Designated Endowment Funds

The Calgary Club Educational Opportunities Fund (Established 2004)
The Calgary Club Educational Opportunities Fund provides grants with a focus on both on single parents who would stand a significant chance of advancement towards a career path ultimately benefiting both themselves and their children and on young adults who would similarly benefit from educational support. Grants will be available to support academic or vocational training with preference given to applicants for whom further education would present the biggest opportunity for self sufficiency and family well being.

Perry Crisis Fund (Established 1995)
The Perry Crisis Fund was established to commemorate Dr Philip Perry's service to Wood's Homes. This fund supports those served by Wood's or engaged in the delivery of Wood's services at critical moments when there is an opportunity to turn crisis into a path forward.

Orphaned Policy Fund (Established 1998)
Over the years various donors have made gifts of life insurance policies where The Wood's Homes Foundation is both the owner of the policy and the beneficiary. These donors have committed to make ongoing premium payments. In the event that the original donor is unable to maintain premium payments, the Orphaned Policy Fund will ensure that funds are available to maintain Wood's interest in substantial future gifts.

Staff Development Fund
The Staff Development Fund will assist Wood's Homes to maintain the well trained and competent staff compliment necessary for Wood's to remain on the leading edge of service delivery to young people in need.

Family Office Foundation Fund (Established 2004)
The Family Office and its founders, Hal and Constance Button, recognize that wealth does not exist independently of the community in which it was created and acknowledge the importance of a strong community in providing a positive environment for family and business growth. In committing that their business success will be measured not only by growth in shareholder value but also by their own reputation, the quality of their work and relationships, and their commitment to social responsibility they have established the Family Office Foundation Fund which provides for grants in support the educational initiatives of Wood's Homes Programs for children and families. Particular consideration will be given to qualifying "Financial Education" Initiatives for young people or families.

Taylor Education Fund (Established 1960)
Established through the estate of William Taylor, the bequest provision provides that this fund assists in the education of children who are or have been cared for by Wood's Homes. Grants focus on youth and young adults in preparation for a first career path.

Facilities Enhancement Fund
The Facilities Enhancement Fund will support the maintenance and development of therapeutic, educational and residential facilities that enhance the effectiveness of program delivery.

Discretionary Fund
The Discretionary Fund provides support for operations in areas of the greatest need as identified by the Wood's Homes Board of Directors.

Flow Through Funds

Capital Project Flow Through Fund
The Capital Project Flow Through Fund is a longer term fund to support the development of major facilities needs beyond the current operating cycle.
